i'm back, baby!

E.

Why, hello there! I haven't posted anything in a while and I wish I could excuse that by saying something like »I have been so busy, there just wasn't enough time, ...« but the ugly truth is: I was too lazy to blog. Plus, I didn't have anything to blog about! I didn't do anything these past couple of weeks. First, I had to work, then I had the flu and after that I just wasn't motivated to do anything. When I was sick I just lay in my bed surrounded by dozens of tissues, listened to Christmas songs, drank gallons of tea and pretended it was snowing outside while laughing hysterically at my own stupidity which always triggered horrible coughing fits.

However, today I had breakfast with two friends at »Nöbauer«, which is a nice little pastry shop. It was so nice to get out of the house again!

After breakfast I got to see the holiday photos of Lisa M., drove home, had lunch and decided to sew a dress. Sewing is, in fact, my latest hobby. As I told you a couple of weeks ago, I reorganized my room (I'm going to post some pictures soon) and am now in possession of my mother's sewing machine! The day before yesterday I sewed a cropped top, which turned out ok, for my first try - as did the dress. I probably should add that it was the first time I ever sewed a shirt and a dress - plus, I didn't have a pattern/guideline - I just did what I thought I should, so if any of you actually know how to sew, please don't look too closely because I probably/obviously/clearly made a lot of mistakes :)

cleaning day.

V.

You know that feeling when you sit on your bed, look around the room and suddenly go: "What's that smell?! Oh yeah right, that's just my apartment." I had that exact realization yesterday morning after I had arrived in Vienna again and quickly decided to do something about it.

STEP Tie your hair together!
'Cause no bun, no fun! Ha!.. :)

STEP Start the cleaning process!
And believe you me, that took some time. To motivate myself, actually. However, I really must say, the endless repetition of Tina Turner's Best Of Playlist on Youtube really got me goin'!

First, I had to sort out everything I didn't need anymore and devided my stuff into two basic piles: TRASH and KEEP. (And no mum,- if you're reading this- the picture above is not a portrayal of my apartment's permanent condition. The picture was taken during the cleaning process.) :)

Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of myself lying on the floor sweating and crying before, during and after the cleaning process- (which took me almost 6 hours by the way), which would have been quite funny in retrospect.. But whatever. Maybe next time.

STEP Finish! And take pictures of the finished work to prove to your parents and the world that you are not such a messy person after all!

6 hours later I was exhausted but happy. I decided to reward myself with a lovely meal, some freshly squeezed orange juice and some flowers from the supermarket around the corner.

While rewatching season 6 episodes of SATC I fell asleep drooling on my pyjamas out of sheer exertion and tiredness. :)

sunday boredom.

V.

Hey guys! :) Oh boy, oh boy. I really gotta say. Today's a typical sunday. I'm pretty sure you know what I mean, right..? If not, let me illustrate my sunday-routine for you .. maybe you can check off some of the listed points that feel most similar to your life as well..

► You manage to get out of bed. This is actually the one point that takes up the most time, energy, motivation and overcoming.. at least for me.

►You put on your favourite snugly hoodie.
►You brush your teeth.
►You go to the toilet, of course.
►You have lunch. Or breakfast and later lunch.
►You start staring at the rainy weather outside.
►You go back to bed. This is actually the one point that takes up the least time, energy, motivation and overcoming.. at least for me. :)
►You stay in bed and sleep while watching bad TV.
►You remember having to take an exam in about a month.
►You moaningly get up again, search for your book, open the first page and put it right next to you. You go "Oh wow, that's enough work for today", close the book and go back to sleep totally exhausted.
►You realize that it's already 6:20 pm and that you overslept almost the whole day and nervously do most of the work right then and there.
You start reading 20 pages of your book, summarize the information on a piece of paper, take a shower, eat, turn on the laptop, eat again, check FB, eat again, check Instagram, eat again, check blogs while eating, then eat again.
►You decide to start a diet tomorrow.
►You decide to start a dream journal tomorrow.
►You revise the last two plans out of sheer laziness.
►You remember that you haven't been posting anything on your blog for about a week now and go: "Oh my god!"
►You sit down and write an absolute unnecessary, utterly boring post that will cost you at least 3 followers.
►You start putting nivea creme all over your face and laugh at the result.
►You go online shopping. And by 'online shopping' I mean: put everything you like in the cart, realize that you would have to pay 620€ for your purchase and leave the site again while crying.
►You look at Youtube videos.
Like this one:

Or this one:

Ha! Or this one:

Aww. Or this one:

(I'm a huge Boy meets World Fan, and hands down- I couldn't imagine anyone to be a cuter couple than Cory and Topanga!) :) My god, this video is cheesy. Awesome!
Alright.. Just realized I have to rewatch episodes from Boy Meets World again. Right now.
►You brush your teeth.
►You go to bed.
►You watch Boy Meets World.

Haha, or at least that's what I'm going to do right now. Have a nice Sunday, guys! :)

august trip.

V.

Hey guys! :)
Oh boy, did I have a busy weekend.. On Friday my bofriend and I decided to visit a city an hour away from the one we live in. It's called Eisenstadt and houses a very old castle called "Schloss Esterházy".

Esterházy Palace is one of the most beautiful baroque palaces in Austria and gives an insight on the lives once lived at the court of the Princes Esterházy. However, before we visited the actual palace we first took a stroll through the old town of Eisenstadt and allowed ourselves a quick break at a coffeehouse in front of the castle.

Back at the castle we gathered in front of the entrance to start our guided tour that went on for about an hour.

We heard some very interesting stories about the Princes and Princesses there as we were walking through their apartments. The so called "apartment of the princess" (which was the title of the exhibition btw) focuses on the living experience of three ladies called: Maria Josepha Hermenegilde, Maria Theresia and Lady Sarah Frederica.

The exhibition tells of their lives and of special occasions and anecdotes from their biographies. We also found out about the original use of the rooms and some details about everyday life and the role a woman from the nobility was expected to fulfil in the 19th century.

The other part of the exhibition takes you up to the mezzanine storey above the apartment that is open to the public for the first time. These rooms give you a glimpse of the lives of the servants who served the Princesses.

Basically, in the summer months the imperial family liked to stay at their palace here in Eisenstadt.
One of my personal favourites was the "Haydnsaal"  which is hailed as one of the most beautiful concert halls in the world, above all because of its acoustics. Its name goes back to the Austrian composer Joseph Haydn, who was in the Esterházy family’s service for almost forty years and composed many of his works here in Eisenstadt.

After visiting this outstanding place, we decided to go get something to eat in a town nearby.

It's called Rust and is known for its renowned Mostheurigen that you can find all around this small city. Rust is situated right next to one of my favourite lakes- Neusiedlersee, which made the visit even more beautiful as we took a quick glimpse at the water after lunch.

It was almost 6pm when we first looked at our watches and I heard Michael say: "You know what, - why don't we stop by the Outlet Center in Parndorf while we're already here.."

The Parndorf Outlet Center is a cute little artificially built village, inspired by traditional Austrian architecture, that offers designer brands at up to 70% off all year round.

Besides more than 170 boutiques, you can also visit cafes and restaurants there. My parents and I like to compare it with that idyllic yet creepy artificial town Seahaven from the Truman Show, - a coastal city surrounded by water with simulated weather appearances and so on.. :) We always feel like being an that movie whenever we're in Parndorf..

Mike bought himself a new Ralph Lauren Hoodie and a sweater and later on we got some wine and grape juice as well.

It really was a fantastic day, as I personally love culture trips combined with delicious meals and shooping tours afterwards. :)
