vienna, we're back.
hello guys! :)
after waiting a long, long, long time to finally step out of our apartments again, after having to bear an extremely cold, unpleasant and never-ending wintertime here in vienna, we were finally able to shake the seven layers of blankets off from our
bodies and got out of bed! aware of the fact that we might risk the usual windswept hairstyle-look, smudgy make-up stains all over our face and frozen hands that felt like falling off, we still dared to leave the house and hit the town again! and by 'town' we mean vienna. and by 'hit' we mean to walk around..
so we PACKED OUR BAGS, CLOSED THE DOORS BEHIND US AND ... well... went to nearest café since we still couldn't stand the cold, no matter how hard we tried. driven by the feeling of starvation (and that's a very common feeling for us) we decided to order some lovely bagels, one
tuna/sourcrout and one mozzarella/tomato bagel. aren't they a sight for sore eyes?

after pleasing our stomachs we took the tram to a fantastic little foodstore called 'bobby's'. the shop offers many different products from england and america, including cadbury chocolate and snapple juice. even in vienna it's quite rare to get to buy these kinds of products, so we seized the opportunity.. for more information go to bobby's.at
even though we immediately returned back to our beds after coming home, it was still a nice and adventurous day. :)

our hobby, our job.
for all of you who don't know it yet,- we love photography. we really do. every little bit of it.
what makes this hobby even more fantastic is ... when you actually get paid for what you love to do. to be more precise: esther's greatest passion is cooking (and photography). my greatest passion is photography (and collecting the crocheted hats on innocent smoothies. -but that's a whole nother chapture). however, we've been able to combine both of our talents and eventually got to work for a publishing company in vienna that produces nutrition books. we've been collaborating with them for almost a year now and the results have so far been satisfying. what do you think?
and that's how we do it:
we mostly do our photoshoots on weekends, (esther's pre-cooking the food in her house on saturday and sunday, I photograph the different courses on sunday and later retouch them with photoshop, of course.
there was one time when we had to do a totally spontaneous and quick photoshooting of a mint-mango dressing, so we improvised a little bit..
since we mostly do our food-photography in esther's house on the countryside, we had no other choice than to shoot it in her apartment in vienna. on her makeup stand to be exact.
and this was the ultimate end-result:
not too shabby, right? :)

cuddling with ... sore throat.
understandably, this title is in need of an explanation. let's start with this question: have you ever heard of GIANTmicrobes before? if not, you're in for a treat. a few days ago, after esther had been batteling a terrible cold, I thought to myself: what could possibly cheer her up? maybe a new book? no. maybe a necklace with a moustache pendant on it? no. some macaroons? no. (well yes, actually, so I bought them too) but THE FOLLOWING thing had to make her happy. a plushy microbe in the form of a streptococcus bacteria!! (for the nonscientific people among us: also known as 'sore throat'- bacteria) isn't that genius? I loved the idea of giving someone their own illness represented by a fluffy, cute and seemingly harmless little fella.
here's a pic of sore throat cuddling with bobo the frog (another one of esther's plushy friends).
for the record: bobo's not wearing a tutu (he's a boy after all), that's just part of his ensemble as a bath scrub. as you can see, the two of them are deeply in love and pretty inseparable till this day.
bobo and sore throat. a love story.

winter wonderland.
hot cocoa, fluffy coats, fireplaces, snowflakes. winter has finally arrived here in austria! after having experienced a balmy christmas and an almost tropical new year's eve, the snow, ice and crispness that comes with freezing temperatures have made their way to us.
after our long absence we would like say one thing first:
and furthermore, we would like to share some impressions with you. winter wonderland. enjoy!

the eleventh month.
time really shoots right by. especially the last three months of the year. there's so much to, and not much time to do it in. wasn't it just end of summer, when we were taking long walks in the park, ate strawberry ice cream and wore floral dresses? now it's already the eleventh month of the year. leafs have already started to fall, the air is getting crisp and you can almost hear the christmas bells ringing. but before that happens, we'd still like to appreciate and enjoy the third season of the year. we present to you-
autumn. the year's last, loveliest smile.
