to grandma's house we go.

V.

As I didn't have to go back to Vienna right away at the beginning of the week, I was able to spend my day on the countryside today. After doing some learning for an upcoming test, I headed over to my granny's house for lunch, as she had invited me to join her a few days ago. I always loved spending time at her house when I was a kid and as my granny's house is only a block away from ours, I always packed my bags on the weekends after school and immediately ran over to her place. We always used to play games together, eat lots of great food and stay up late to watch TV shows like "Wetten, dass..?"! :) One thing I absolutely loved as a child was the moment when we went to bed. It was always freezingly cold in grandma's bedroom, but the bedspread was so warm and cozy, so I loved running towards the bed and snuggling the blanket while my grandma gave me a good night kiss. :) In the morning I always got some hot cocoa or malt coffee with some toast. It was lovely! Aww, I see I got a little carried away right now .. but I always think about these kind of things when I enter her house! :)

Alright, so today my granny made me my all-time-favourite-grandma-meal,- "Grießnudeln", which basically are plain noodles with semolina on them. My granny always complains when making them as they're "not a real meal" in her eyes, but I truely love them. :)

After lunch I got some dessert too while my grandma indulged in one of her daily passions. Coffee. (I bought her that mug, btw, when I was in NYC for the first time,- and she still uses it! :) )

We then played one of my favourite card games (and actually the only one I get) - Jolly! - However, there are different rules in that version as it is actually called "Räuber Jolly". I don't really know how to explain the rules to you guys .. but believe me, it was lots of fun! :)

After our little game I went around in granny's house and took pictures of her interior (and of course asked her permission to now post the pictures on this blog!) :)

Oh, well .. about this picture .. funny story actually .. you see the small heartshape on the wallpaper there? Yeah, that was me. Have you ever had one of those moment where you sit around all day, you're somehow utterly bored, your mind goes blank and for no particular reason you do something incredibly stupid that at the time seemed like a genius idea? Well, I had one of those moment right then and there. I was painting some lions (my favourite motives, I really gotta say) that afternoon, then looked behind me and suddenly felt like .. "hey, that wall could use some ornamental touch". So I did it. I went right for that heartshape. Well.  As soon as the doodle was on the wall though, I went "Oh. My. God. What have I done?" and tried to get it off real quick before granny gets into the livingroom. Genius me, however, didn't realize at that time that a ballpen is not a pencil and that my masterpiece would not come off that easily. While trying to scrub it off the wall like a maniac I could already hear my granny's footsteps in the next room. There was no way out. I had to tell her. I didn't, however, I didn't have the guts, - she found out herself when she looked at my face ..

.. and then at the wall. However, - and that's what really surprised me, she was totally fine with it and went like: "Well. Now it gives it a personal touch. I like it." I was totally awestruck by her coolness,- even though she was never strict with me at all, I still didn't expect her to be so calm. Yeah. So that heart's still there, just wanted you guys to know that. Well, there was actually another incident concerning a Coca Cola explotion on her rug, but that's a whole 'nother story.

The picture hanging above my masterpiece is in fact another handmade masterpiece by my mom that she made when she was a kid. My granny put three of her works on her living room wall and we both love them!  My mom really was and still is very crafty as you can see and I admire her for that enormously! :) Later, my grandma showed me her collection of vintage bags and told me that they were highly popular at the time when she was a young girl. I find it absolutely fascinating how much time and effort people had put into making these fashion items, as it must have taken them a decade to finish one of them. Really nice!

Here's actually another one of my souvenirs I got for my granny when I was in SFC with Esther in 2012! (Has it really been so long?? 2012? Oh my god Esther, we have to go back there very soon!)

In the afternoon my mum picked granny up to drive her to the bank and I went home to return to my studies. It was a lovely day and like always, granny and I had lots of fun! :)

sunday love.

V.

Hey guys! :) Today was a real sunday, I must say. Sleeping 'till noon, watching ski-competitions on TV, having an awesome meal for lunch (thanks mom!),- and while we're at it- eating some wonderful apple pie with a glass of milk in the afternoon. Huh. Lovely. Honestly,- if there'd be a list with the 100 laziest people on the planet,- I'd be on it for sure. I could sleep for 20 hours, just stay in bed with my fluffy friends all day, eat, then sleep again and maybe get up once to go to the toilet. Very attractive, I know, but that's the ugly truth.

I mean, honestly. Who would want to leave their bed with those sweet babies lying in it? (yes, I am aware of the fact that I'm 22 years old).

For lunch we had some soup today, chicken with mozzarella and tomatoes on chili noodles and vegetables and for dessert white chocolate mousse with strawberry sauce and fruit. Do I have to say more than that? :)

This past week I got a letter from my former elementary school teacher who took pictures at our class reunion a few months ago. I was so touched when I opened the envelope and read her sweet words ..

That pic shows me and Isi, my best friend back in elementary school. Whenever I see her I always think back to those fun times we had! This letter means very much to me and I will cherish it forever. :) Later that day I watched my mom checking some new outfits to buy on the internet- which reminds me - I got some new stuff last weekend that I'd like to show you as well.

I mainly shopped at Primark and Zara, however, I won't show you all of the products I bought, as I was too lazy to take pictures of all of them! It's sunday, after all! :) The top you can see below I got in 3 colours, beige, violet and black.

The sweater's from Zara and looks a lot like the one Ashley Olsen wore at the launch of the Olsen's new clothing line with Scandinavian retailer Bik Bok.

Also at Zara I got this beautiful checked dress on Sale which I really love!

Well .. at IKEA I bought some notepads and stuff (not the foxy colourbook though, that's from a museum shop) :), for my niece I got a dotted bag with a bow that could be used as some sort of diaper bag? Dunno .. But I thought it looked real cute :) Oh and last but not least I went to KIKO to buy myself a nail care polish for stronger nails and my new favourite body lotion. My mom recently bought it and I fell so in love with the smell that I had to have it too. It doesn't really smell like anything, not flowery, not musky .. just.. clean! It smells like Sunday morning, -fresh, nice and simple. That was a terrific explanation, I really must say.

Well and that was it for today :)! I wish you all a lovely remaining weekend and a great start into the new week! :)

childhood crushes.

E.

Let's talk love, guys. When I was little I was in love with so many fictional characters, I don't even remember all of them to be honest. However, I am really in the mood to take a walk down memory lane right now, so here we go:

Peter Pan

Now, Peter Pan was probably my first love ever. It was such a great love - I even left my window open several nights, so that Peter could fly in and take me with him to Neverland. Unfortunately he never did, though. I had it all planned out. Fly with him to Neverland (of course Tinkerbell would have liked me), be a mother to all the lost boys (though I wouldn't have sat around all day, telling them stories - I would have had my fun on the island alongside them), watching the mermaids (maybe even becoming one - I love »The Little Mermaid« and wanted desperately to be one), ...

Huckleberry Finn

Just hearing this song makes me cry tears of joy. I was so in love with this film! It was released in 1993 and stars Elijah Wood.

However, I don't think his looks were appealing to me - I just really, really loved his character and his adventures. I just wanted to accompany him and Jim on their journey down the Mississippi. Was that too much to ask for? Apparently, yes.

Hercules

No, not the cute little Disney version. The hunky Kevin Sorbo one!

Now before you say anything ... no, I don't have an excuse for this one. I have no idea why. Yes, he is sexy (don't tell me differently - just look at the picture) but what did I ever see in him other than his looks? I was just a very superficial kid, I guess. I always watched this with my sister (who loved his sidekick Iolaus). Why were we even allowed to watch this?

Fun fact: The young Hercules in the show was played by young Ryan Gosling!

Old Shatterhand

Ok. I loved Old Shatterhand (or Kara Ben Nemsi) so much. And Old Surehand, and Old Firehand . For those of you who don't know, they're all friends of Winnetou. For those of you who don't know Winnetou, I am sorry but what are you doing with your life? Just kidding. When I was little I automatically assumed that everybody knew who Winnetou and all of my beloved Old's were but as I have recently discovered, not everyone does. What I always thought hilarious were the scenes where the bad guys were riding towards the good guys and vice versa. Whenever the camera was on the bad guys the music was all dramatic and you could tell that something bad was going to happen but as soon as the camera panned to the good guys the music changed and it was very calming and nice. That constantly changed for a good five minutes until they met in the middle. It was - and still is - hilarious.
Here's a trailer of one of the many films (unfortunately in german, but you get the picture):

Remus Lupin

Ah, yes. This is the part Vicky is not going to like at all. Harry Potter. When I started to read Harry Potter for the first time I thought »This is so stupid and boring, I'm never going to like it!« (because I was pretty young and my mother was recommending it to me, so it just had to be bad because mum just couldn't be right). However, when I picked it up for the second time a couple of weeks later, I loved it and literally could not stop reading.
I liked all the main characters just fine but I wasn't infatuated with anyone, which was pretty weird for me. But as soon as I started reading the third part Remus Lupin entered my life. I actually loved Sirius Black as well (because I pictured him really pretty - yes, I know we have already established that I was/am very superficial) but when I saw the film it really spoiled him (I don't think Gary Oldman is attractive).

There are so many other characters I loved but I think I'm just going to end the list here. Good night :)
